Student Council

Club sponsor: Liesl Palmer

Participating in Student Council at Harpeth High gives students practical experience in leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and service. Members elect their leaders, who govern the council with limited input from the faculty advisors. While there are some restrictions on which projects the council can fundraise for and undertake, plenty of opportunities exist for Student Council members to contribute to the improvement of our school and community. The primary responsibility Student Council takes is the weekly recycling of plastic drink bottles used by staff and students. The latest focused project the group undertook was the creation of a mural in the cafeteria, depicting Harpeth’s many teams and organizations.

New membership is open at the beginning and end of the school year. Officer elections are held at the end of the year. If you’re interested, get involved early, as a freshman or sophomore. By the time you’re a senior, you could be running the show!
